Channel Policy
Off topic conversation is tolerated so long as it doesn’t disrupt an on-topic discussion.
Channel operators will remove a participant from the conversation if, in the opinion of the channel operators, the participant, either repeatedly over time or in a single gross violation:
- disrupts the conversation
- does not engage with the conversation in good faith
- makes participants who are following the channel policy feel unwelcome
- violates network policies
Before removing a participant channel operators will, if practical, attempt to understand the participant’s behaviour, publicly steer the conversation back on track, and privately warn the participant that their behaviour is unacceptable.
When removing a participant, channel operators will:
- Publicly state the reason and duration
- Only remove the participant for the shortest duration the channel operator believes will mitigate the disruption
- Not remove the participant for longer than one year
- Use a bot to automatically allow the participant to rejoin after the duration
- Allow the participant to discuss the removal in good faith with channel operators in a separate channel,
